ok, i might have dreamed this happened, but i could have sworn that someone told me a crazy story about marty stouffer some time in the last week. was it you? it was about someone being called to work on marty’s house because he had a condensation problem due to the fact that he liked to keep the temperature extremely low, like in the mountains, of course. i am driving myself nuts trying to recall where i got this information.

i’ve been googling marty a bit, trying to jog my memory, and i found this god-awful thing. but, strangely, there are no youtube videos of his show. i really want to see that ram head-smacking scene!

twas not me not neither. but oh i like this new place of yours veddy much. yes’m.

  3. Low doesn’t even begin to cover it. My lovely wife Diane is the one. Ha ha.

    SHE freezes ME out.

She literally keeps the windows in our bedroom open wide all winter long. I sneak over and close them, then she opens them again. Yikes.

I’m not the “Mountain Man”… she is. I usually have extra blankets on my side of the bed. Sometimes even a Kaross made out of 18 Desert Cat skins that I got from a Bushman in the Kalahari. And sometimes a Buffalo skin “Robe”.

As for “The Story” and as you note, here in the Rockies, the humidity is very low and that creates a big problem. When you walk around the house on carpeting and then touch something… wall switch, thermostat, the dog’s nose!, etc. the static sparks can be an inch long. Snap! Ouch. Plus, all that dryness is not great on my baby-soft skin.

So, we do have a humidifier hooked up to our heater system. Its hard to keep it regulated just right. When the temperature goes up and down from day to night or if it get very cold all of a sudden, the windows fog up on the inside like a Koolaid jug. Not good. So, yes, we have had that problem and we pretty much have it under control, but it has been worked on many times.

But, I have no idea who you heard it from. Probably from some Heater technician here in Colorado who worked in our house at some time.

As for “Wild America” Videos Online, there are some on AOL and also on Google, but there may not be any on YouTube.

Keep an eye on the “Wild America.com site also… it is now getting a much-needed update and will have a whole lot of new materials on it soon.

    All the best.

Until next time, enjoy our Wild America!

    Marty Stouffer
