i collect books that have covers drawn by edward gorey, or lettering by him, and of course, his own books. yesterday i was waiting for seuss to get his milkshake from ben & jerry’s, so i was browsing the window at the last word on 40th & locust when i saw this book. the 1959 edition. i went right in and plunked down $20 for it, and another $6 for a copy of redburn by herman melville that happened to be sitting on the counter (the owner of the bookstore apparently also has the same gorey addiction i do, and was trying to get rid of some of his). at least i might actually read that one, as opposed to the copy of troilus and cressida i have at home already.
